Super Easy Catalan
Super Easy Catalan videos are aimed at beginners. They feature the same bilingual subtitles, but cover simpler vocabulary and are easier to understand.

Easy Catalan stems from the idea of offering Catalan learners and teachers audiovisual content in Catalan. Sílvia had been following the Easy Languages YouTube channel and decided that Catalan, which she loves a lot, should also be included. This is because there is not much audiovisual material available in the Catalan language on YouTube, which is also aimed at teaching the language. So she presented the project to Joan, and he quickly got on board. She then got in contact with Andreu, who then got in contact with Laia, so we had a good little group to start with. Finally, we found Sophie, Paula and Jack, who were the last pieces that we needed to complete the Easy Catalan team!
We currently publish one video every month. We switch between interviews that show everyday Catalan and more educational videos (Super Easy) for those of you who are learning Catalan from zero. All of our videos feature Catalan subtitles with English translations. This is how all of the Easy Languages videos are formatted and it is a great way of learning a language whilst also enjoying yourself watching YouTube videos. What’s more, in the video description box you will always find an explanation on the topic covered in the video, as well as some corrections to small errors that may appear in brackets in the subtitles. Currently Easy Catalan is on three types of social media: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. If you want to practice your Catalan, you just have to follow us, and then start commenting and answering the questions that we ask every week.

Easy Catalan neix amb la idea d'oferir als aprenents i professors de català contingut audiovisual en llengua catalana. La Sílvia era seguidora d'Easy Languages i va decidir que el català, que tant s'estima, també hi havia de ser present, ja que a YouTube no hi ha gaire material audiovisual en aquesta llengua dirigit a l'aprenentatge de l'idioma. Així doncs, va presentar el projecte al Joan, que ràpidament s'hi va animar. A continuació va contactar amb l'Andreu, que al seu torn va contactar amb la Laia, de manera que ja teníem un bon grupet per començar. Finalment vam trobar la Sophie, la Paula i el Jack, les últimes peces que necessitàvem per completar l'equip d'Easy Catalan!
Actualment publiquem un vídeo al mes. Intercalem vídeos d'entrevistes per ensenyar el català parlat al carrer i vídeos més didàctics (Super Easy) per a tots aquells que comenceu a aprendre català des de zero. En tots els vídeos hi ha els subtítols en català i la traducció a l'anglès. Aquest és el format que presenten tots els vídeos d'Easy Languages, i és perfecte per aprendre una llengua mentre t'entretens mirant vídeos a YouTube. A més a més, a la caixa de descripció del vídeo sempre hi trobareu una explicació del tema que tractem, així com la correcció de petits errors que apareixen entre parèntesis o claudàtors als subtítols. Actualment, Easy Catalan és present a tres xarxes socials: Instagram, Facebook i Twitter. Si voleu practicar el vostre català, només cal que ens seguiu i aneu comentant i responent les preguntes que us plantegem setmanalment.

You’ll have access to the video transcriptions and audio files, and you’ll also receive all of our videos with and without subtitles, depending on the type of membership. Coming soon are grammar and vocabulary exercises for all of our videos!

Team
Sílvia
Sílvia is the most well known of the team as she is the main interviewer and the driving force behind Easy Catalan. She edits the videos with Joan, is in charge of social media and project-manages the group. Sílvia’s passion is her job: teaching. She teaches private German classes.
La Sílvia és qui més coneixeu de l'equip, ja que és la impulsora i entrevistadora principal d’Easy Catalan. Edita els vídeos amb el Joan i porta les xarxes socials i la coordinació de l'equip. La passió de la Sílvia és la seva feina: ensenyar. Es dedica a fer classes particulars d'alemany.
Joan
Joan is the cameraman. As well as recording all of the Easy Catalan videos, he edits them along with Sílvia. He works in administration and in his free time he loves to read science-fiction novels and play video games, as well as watching YouTube videos obviously!
El Joan és el càmera. A més de gravar tots els vídeos d'Easy Catalan, els edita juntament amb la Sílvia. Treballa com a administratiu i en el seu temps lliure li encanta llegir llibres de ciència-ficció i jugar a videojocs, a part de mirar vídeos de YouTube, esclar!
Andreu
Andreu is from Lleida, which is in the west of Catalonia, and he works on the transcripts and revision of the subtitles, although he sometimes braves getting in front of the camera. He works as a translator and spends a lot of his free time learning languages as well as taking part in language-related projects, like Easy Catalan!
L’Andreu ve de Lleida, a l’oest de Catalunya, i s’encarrega de la transcripció i la revisió dels subtítols, tot i que de vegades també s’atreveix a posar-se davant la càmera. Treballa com a traductor i dedica el seu temps lliure a l’aprenentatge de llengües i a altres projectes relacionats amb la llengua. Easy Catalan n’és un!
Sophie
Sophie is from England and she translates the subtitles into English. Last year, when she finished her master’s in translation at the University of Glasgow, she moved to Girona, where she now works as a conversation assistant and is making the most of the opportunity to improve her Catalan and Spanish. In her free time she likes to read a lot, especially in cafes, and go hiking.
La Sophie és d’Anglaterra i és qui fa la traducció dels subtítols a l’anglès. Quan va acabar el màster en traducció a la universitat de Glasgow l’any passat, es va traslladar a Girona, on ara fa d’auxiliar de conversa i aprofita per millorar el català i el castellà. En el seu temps lliure li agrada molt llegir, especialment en cafeteries, i fer senderisme.
Paula
Paula is from the US and has taught English in Uzbekistan and French Catalonia. She runs the Easy Catalan Instagram page and translates the social media posts. She's passionate about language learning, international education and diplomacy, so she's happy to share her love of Catalan with all of you!
La Paula és dels Estats Units. Ha fet de professora d'anglès a l'Uzbekistan i a la Catalunya del Nord, a França. S'encarrega de la pàgina d'Instagram d'Easy Catalan i tradueix les publicacions per a les xarxes socials. L'apassionen l'aprenentatge de llengües, l'educació internacional i la diplomàcia. És molt feliç de compartir el seu amor pel català amb tots vosaltres!
Jack
Jack is from England and has lived in Tarragona, Germany and Austria. He has been in Easy Catalan videos and helps with the translations. He is very interested in history and foreign languages, and he has always wanted to learn Catalan. Living in Catalonia has given him the perfect opportunity to do so.
En Jack és d'Anglaterra i ha viscut a Tarragona, Alemanya i Àustria. Apareix en alguns vídeos d'Easy Catalan i ajuda amb les traduccions. Li interessa molt la història i les llengües estrangeres, i sempre ha volgut aprendre català: viure a Catalunya li ha donat l'oportunitat perfecta per fer-ho!
